Kathmandu: Mayor Balendra Shah of Kathmandu Metropolitan City is calling on the public to participate in a cleaning drive scheduled for May 27. The Metropolitan City is organizing this special sanitation program to commemorate the first anniversary of the assumption of office by the elected representatives, including Mayor Shah. It has been almost a year since Nepal held its second local level election after the implementation of the new constitution.

In light of this milestone, Mayor Shah has appealed to all representatives of the 32 wards to coordinate with partner organizations in their respective areas to carry out cleaning campaigns. The cleaning drive will take place for three hours starting from 7:00 am on Saturday.

The materials necessary for the cleaning activities will be provided by the respective wards. The collected garbage will be managed in collaboration with the private sector, as stated by the Metropolitan City.

It is encouraging to see Mayor Shah taking the initiative to promote cleanliness and involve the community in this important endeavor. Such efforts contribute to maintaining a healthy and hygienic environment for all residents of Kathmandu.
